Before coming to grad school I worked as a tutor & circus coach at CircEsteem, a free after-school program for kids from diverse backgrounds Chicago, IL; as a legal process server and as a film audio engineer in Minneapolis, MN; and as a freelance juggler performing around the world. I also co-founded a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called The Medicinal Strings which brought free concerts to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other underserved communities across the US.

I'm an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biology working under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Rudgers at the University of New Mexico. I'm broadly interested in the evolutionary ecology of plant-microbe interactions. My research integrates microbes into classic themes in ecology and evolution, and seeks to uncover the extent to which microbes are cryptic drivers of ecological and evolutionary patterns and processes. I also apply this research to solve real world problems in agriculture and hopefully other managed systems in the future.
When I'm not in the greenhouse I like to juggle, play music, ride bikes, learn languages, and lately I've been into cooking food from as many countries as possible. Ever tried Bobotie from South Africa? Mmmm... so good.
